Outdoor furniture prices: compare the delivered, usable cost

A cheap chair is not a cheap seating plan if delivery, assembly, replacement parts or unsuitable use make the final bill higher.

Start with one comparable specification

Write down the exact model or a minimum specification: dimensions, intended outdoor use, load information, materials, stacking or folding needs, and whether the seller confirms commercial use. Include the number of seats and tables actually required. A photograph of a four-chair scene may describe a single chair. Compare package contents and product references before treating two offers as equivalent.

Calculate the cost of putting it into service

A practical starting total is item price plus delivery, assembly, required accessories and any known import charges. Add maintenance separately over a stated period using your own assumptions. Do not present an assumed five-year lifetime as a manufacturer guarantee. Also record who removes the packaging and whether the delivery stops at the entrance, the loading area or the final terrace.

A cheaper product can produce a more expensive order

Illustrative example only: twelve identical chairs at THB 900 each cost THB 10,800. Add THB 1,800 delivery and THB 1,200 assembly for a total of THB 13,800. A second supplier offers the same chairs at THB 1,050, with delivery and assembly included: twelve cost THB 12,600. The second order is THB 1,200 cheaper overall. These are calculation inputs, not quotations or current market prices.

A named merchant example: check the scope of use

IKEA Thailand’s published purchase terms state that products are intended for domestic use unless commercial or industrial suitability is expressly stated. The same terms separate product prices from service fees and specify delivery conditions within Thailand. This is a useful reminder to obtain product-specific confirmation for a café or guesthouse; it is not a claim that all IKEA furniture is suitable or unsuitable for hospitality.

Read the return route before ordering a large quantity

Ask how a damaged or unsuitable item is reported, who pays for collection, what condition a return must be in and whether assembly affects acceptance. Domestic change-of-mind policies should not be assumed to apply to a business purchase or to another country. For example, IKEA Thailand directs Business-item enquiries to the relevant Business Sales channel. Save the seller’s applicable terms and your accepted quote.

Use a sample and a receiving checklist

For a larger installation, consider ordering or inspecting one unit before committing to the full batch. Test the fit with your table and storage area without exceeding the product instructions. At delivery, count packages, photograph visible damage and keep labels until the order is complete. Record the seller and product reference so replacement feet, fittings or extra chairs can be matched later.

Choose the right seller for the destination

A low overseas list price is not proof that the supplier delivers to your address or honours support there. Confirm destination, currency, invoice details and whether a local service agent exists. The best-value purchase is the one that fits the intended use and has a workable total cost. Sometimes that means a local supplier or reusing existing furniture, even when an online offer appears cheaper.
